S6 Retreat Day 2008
"What are you Waiting for?"
Wednesday 3rd December 2008
About 70 pupils from all over the Archdiocese of Glasgow came along to the Youth Pastoral Centre on Wednesday 3rd December to reflect on the voices we listen to during the Advent Season.
Towards the end of the day, participants were asked to create a message of hope for the world in which we live:
"We, the young people of the Archdiocese of Glasgow believe that we can make a difference in our world today. We are a people filled with hope. Hope has no single form; it can be found in everything and everyone. Young people are a sign of hope. People who are here today are a sign of God’s work and that hope which we can see in the Church, in our homes and the school communities to which we belong.
We recognise that the world is changing around us, becoming more tolerant and advanced and we are changing with the world. We also recognise that our generation has a deep passion for helping others: the number of charities we support and work to help is a reason for that hope!
This year, the year of St. Paul gives us the opportunity to end our message with words from his first letter to the people of Corinth: “There are three things that last: faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love!”"
Currently, the Youth Pastoral Team is involved in retreat work with over 70% of Catholic Secondary Schools...
John Paul Academy retreat
30th-31st October 2008
27 S6 pupils from John Paul Academy enjoyed an over night retreat at West Linton where they explored their relationships with self, others and God. The retreat culminated in the reflection of how we use the gifts of the Holy Spirit to produce their fruits.
